2013 was an incredible year for so many reasons. Some of which were the great opportunities that I had to photograph engagements, family photos, weddings and all of our adventures. I always say that there is something special about being able to take photographs for people… it’s like I’m documenting a piece of history, and often, one of the most special times in peoples’ lives.
Yesterday kicked off 2014’s photography with one of the sweetest couples out there. Alexis & Hunter are friends of mine from college. When I heard of them getting engaged, I couldn’t be more excited. The chance to shoot their engagement photos was just the cherry on top! We got to visit some of their most cherished places in Athens & Watkinsville from their time together at the University of Georgia.
These two are some of the most encouraging, genuine and gracious people out there. Plus, they were total troopers in the freezing cold! It was tough for me to pick my favorites from our session because they are just that precious. But, alas, here is my weak attempt at narrowing them down:
Alexis & Hunter, thank you so much for letting me be a part of this special time in your lives! Can’t wait to see all of the amazing things that are in store for you two!
Last time I posted, I was shooting skeet on a farm. Now, I’m posting about a different kind of shooting. Second shooting, that is. Recently, I’ve been spending a few Saturdays with the wonderfully awesome Rustic White Photography.
I met them at Chip’s childhood best friend’s wedding in December. After some e-mailing, we met for dinner, and I immediately felt so welcomed by the two. Tiffany and Robert are the duo behind RWP and become your best friends the instant you meet them. I’m honored to be able to learn from them and tag along to some weddings here and there.
Here is a little photo update of my time with them:
It’s been a ton of fun and a great experience. Looking forward to the next wedding with them! Can’t wait to share more!
This month, I fell even more in love with our sweet town than before. While walking through the My Athens gallery on multiple occasions, various Instagrams caught my eye. There were places I recognized without a shadow of a doubt. But, then there were places I had never seen before.
I’ve lived in Athens for 6 years now. That’s 1/4 of my life.
It’s not a large town. In fact, it’s rather small… The small town feel, with everything you could want out of a big city (minus the traffic, thank goodness). After 6 years, you’d think I would have covered some pretty solid ground here… and I have.
However, there are still parts of Athens I’ve yet to discover, restaurants our foodie selves have yet to visit, and sights I’ve yet to see.
The My Athens gallery fanned my flame a little brighter for the Classic City. In fact, I’m thinking of creating a bucket list for our final year here before adventure (ahem… big scary residency) takes us to a new city.
All I can hope for is that it’s equally as wonderful as Athens.
Do you have any suggestions of bucket list items for us? Please share!
I had two dear friends in high school. We each were involved in three totally different things, but ultimately had one common bond: Spanish class. We really only became great friends our senior year, but after so many Spanish projects complete with dessert breaks, friendships like that stick like glue.
In 2011, MR got married. In 2012, I got married. And in 2013, we’re marrying off the 3rd of our trio – Katie! We couldn’t be more excited! In fact, we even have thrown out the idea of all of us living in a triplex… maybe.
Lucky for me, I had the privilege of shooting engagement photos for Katie and her man, Scott in downtown Roswell, GA. It was a blast and a beautiful day. After editing, ooh-ing and ah-ing at how great this sweet couple looked, I had the chance to help Katie’s vision for a “Save the Date” come to life!

Yesterday, the postcard arrived in the mail and it was such fun! Not only is one of my best friends getting married, but I loved being able to see the final product come to life from photography to design to print. Now, I’m just ready for July to be here to celebrate my sweet friend!
But first, bridal shower and bachelorette planning ensues! Woo!
This past weekend I got to reunite with one of my favorite families from my days of working as the Marketing Director at a Chick-fil-A in town. The girls used to come to all of the events, from Princess Night to Daddy-Daughter Date Night, and were always the cutest! Over the years, I’ve kept up with them on Facebook, so when their mom reached out to me for some new family photos, I was thrilled!
Kenzie and Kardyn are about the sweetest girls you will meet. This family likes to have a lot of fun, smiling and giggling all the way! We got to spend the afternoon doing some of their favorite things: reading, playing on the swing set, and running around North Campus and downtown Athens. They were completely in their element!
Kenzie was extremely proud of her first loose tooth. Looks like the Tooth Fairy should be coming to the Horton household soon!
And so is Santa! The girls have a chain in their house counting down the days until Christmas! They were so excited to take another link down.
Aren’t they just the sweetest? Their joy certainly brought me joy! Thanks, Horton family, for a fun afternoon!
This couple is so beautiful – inside and out! Sydney and Tyler were such fun to spend the afternoon with in Athens. Tyler actually lives in Memphis and had a long trip back home after our shoot, so he gets major credit for being such a great sport! It’s always fun to see couples really enjoying themselves, even when they know they have an 8 hour drive ahead of them!
They will be getting married in October of 2013, and I know it will be an incredible wedding. Until then, check out their gorgeous engagement photos! It was a beautiful day and the sunset at the end was absolutely amazing!
A while back I mentioned about a sweet couple in our small group having a baby boy! Whit was born on Sept. 11 of this year and is oh so cute. When mommy Stephanie asked if I could shoot a few photos for a Christmas card, I quickly agreed!
Not only did Whit come over for a visit, but his big Golden Retriever brother, Rhett did too! Rhett got some good play time (and very messy) with Sophie, so we had the house to ourselves while the crazy ones hung out in the backyard!
Here are a few of my favorites from the day:
He was completely mesmerized by the fan! Too cute!
There is just something about tiny baby feet and hands, isn’t there? Gosh, I can’t get enough.
Stephanie’s friend created this quilt for Whit! Amazing! Quilting is definitely something on my bucket list.
And finally, Sophie’s playmate for the day: The ever-so-handsome Rhett Butler. He’s got a gorgeous color coat!
We certainly had a lot of fun having the entire Fehr family over and can’t wait to see the Christmas card come together!
Now, it’s prompting me to get my act together and create a Christmas card for the Dr. and Mrs. Carnes family per the request of Chip’s dad! Should be fun… stay tuned for the final product!
After an incredible Thanksgiving break, I topped off the weekend with an engagement photo shoot of this gorgeous couple. Sydney is a sorority sister of mine and a future intern of the communications agency I work for. I can’t wait to have her join our team in the spring!
She and Tyler are both so genuine and it was such a joy getting to explore Athens together. They will actually be getting married at the beautiful Carl House – the same place Chip and I got married! It’s so fun getting to hear their excitement for planning and marriage!
Without further ado, here are a few of my favorite photos from the afternoon:
Looking forward to posting more photos in the upcoming weeks!
Every UGA fan has a bullet on their bucket list that reads something like:
Touch that gorgeous green grass in Sanford Stadium
Well, last weekend, I was about as close as possible to achieving that goal without actually being Between the Hedges. What I mean is that I had the chance to hang out with an awesome couple and shoot their engagement photos – football style. One stop we made was in Butts-Mehre, the Georgia Bulldawgs football facility. Let me just say, this place is amazing. Plus, it was awesome to be able to capture them having fun in their element!
Check out some of my favorite shots from the afternoon of the fabulous Chris and Arielle!
Aren’t these two gorgeous? Thanks so much to the future Mr. & Mrs. Burnette for an awesome day!
So, what is one item on your bucket list you’d like to cross off? I’d love to hear!
